Pfc. James J. Kubec of 4247 E. 128th Street, Cleveland, Ohio, was killed in action, October 23, 1918. Entered the National Army LB 11, Cleveland, Ohio, April 28, 1918. Born in Cleveland, he was 30 years old at the time of his death. Pfc. Kubec served with 11th Co 3rd Training Battalion 158th Depot Brigade to May 8, 1918; 308th Trench Mortar Battery to October 23, 1918 at Meuse-Argonne. He was with the American Expeditionary Forces from June 23, 1918 until his death. His mother, Mrs. Marie Kubec, 4274 E. 128th Street, was notified of his death. His body was returned to the US on SS Wheaton August 1921. He was the brother of Frank, Anna, Joseph, John, Antonette, Anastasia and Edward.

Funeral services for Pfc. Kubec were held at Holy Family Church, E. 131st Street.
